What We Do

e-Path is a web development business in Leicester. We specialise in technical aspects of web development but work with other design companies to provide excellent creative work, just as we sometimes provide excellent technical work for those creative companies.

AJAX and Javascript. AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is very popular for making website smoother and adding fancy visual effects without the use of plug-ins such as Flash. One example would be a list of products that has paging by using AJAX the pages could be change without requiring the whole page to reload.

JSON. We use JSON for transmitting data within JavaScript and to and from the ASP.NET application and the client side AJAX.

ASP.NET 2 and ASP.NET 3.5. ASP.NET is by far the best language for creating web applications that use server side processing. We our outstanding ASP.NET developers. We use C# for our ASP.NET development.

MS SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server is an extremely powerful database server. We use SQL Server where database are needed by the web applications such as content managed site or where data is collected from users. SQL Server is accessed by ASP.NET.

HTML (hypertext mark-up language). We hand code all of our website rather than using editors which produce messy inefficient HTML. We tend to use XHTML 1.0 or XHTML 1.1 in our build. By hand coding pages we can improve accessibility, reduce download times and make the site easier for search engines to scan.

CSS. CSS is used to style the HTML. Using CSS files help to keep the style of the website consistent, removes style information from the HTML and thus reduces page size, improves accessibility and search engine optimisation and makes the site easy to alter by other developers.

XML and XSLT. We use XML for transmitting data and sometimes storing data. In many projects we will use XSLT for styling XML data into a HTML page or styling RSS or other XML feeds.

Search Engines. We optimise all our sites for search engines.

Design. Due to the fact we are a small organisation and specialise in technical aspects we usually out-source our design to companies in our client list.
